Meet Mari, Food Server

Mari Vera is an assisted living food server in the Dining Room and has worked at Renaissance Village Rancho Belago since it opened in 2014.

Mari went to Kaplan Community College to study to be a Medical Assistant. She wanted to originally work with kids, but since she started working at Renaissance Village her plans have changed. While she wants to continue a career in nursing, she’d like it to also include seniors. Mari is also considering becoming a social worker for seniors.

While working at Renaissance Village, Mari developed a love for the elderly. She loves hearing the histories of each resident and showing them they are supported and loved. Mari has also learned that breakfast is residents’ favorite meal of the day. Mari observes that if their day doesn’t go right in the morning it can negatively impact their day. She and the team go above and beyond to keep residents smiling and happy. Mari thinks the best part of her job is getting to know the residents, and on top of that, the staff is great. Mari shares you wake up every day looking forward to making residents smile.

Mari lives with her two younger brothers, Luis and Carlos, whom she’s very close with. They also have four dogs, which include their German Shepherd, Shadow, Maltese, Bella, Dalmatian, Luna, and Australian Shepherd, Gus. The newest addition is Gus, and he’s still just a puppy.

Mari likes to be active on her days off. She works out and goes to the beach or on hikes. She also likes to walk her dogs, spend time with her family a read. Mari doesn’t currently have any hobbies but has resolved to work out and read more this year.
