Adore was born in the Philippines and lived there most of her life. She attended Saint Louis University, Baguio City. She received her Bachelor of Science in Commerce, and majored in Accounting. Adore had the privilege of working as an Administrative Assistant at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations for over 18 years. This time allowed her to learn the importance of humility, honesty, and loyalty. She continues to carry these lessons with her to this day.

Adore’s first husband, Jose, Jr. was an entomologist.

He was one of the scientists who worked with an Experimental Station of a German company that developed pesticides. He was a bright man and he treated her like a queen. Together they had two children. Unfortunately, her son was born with tetralogy of fallot of the heart. He passed away during surgery when he was six months old. Over the eight months that followed, her husband received the diagnosis of a very rare case of cancer that had already metastasized at a terminal stage and passed away. Despite these unfortunate circumstances, Adore continued to grow and to this day, sees obstacles as new challenges to overcome.

Looking for a better life

Adore and her daughter, Ia, received tremendous support from family, friends, and co-workers. One of her bosses suggested she go to the United States and wrote her a letter of support, which granted her and Ia, 10 years of entry to the U.S. They continued to live in Manila until 2007. Adore’s sister introduced her to Leandro, her second husband and the two corresponded by email before they were later married. He retired from the Navy as Petty Officer First Class. Her husband still works with the Military Sealift Command (MSC) of the United States Navy as Chief Electrician, under U.S.N.S. John Lenthall stationed in Virginia. They don’t see one another as often as they would like because most of the time he is on deployment working on logistics on Navy ships overseas, but he is a wonderful husband and great father to Ia.

While Ia worked toward her ASN at the University of Saint Francis Crown Point and BSN at Purdue University, Adore also furthered her education and received a Medical Administrative Assistant Diploma from Everest College, and worked as an Office Manager and Medical Administrative Assistant Extern for various companies. When Ia graduated, they moved to California for better opportunities. Adore worked as a Home Care Aide and got Residential Care Facility for Elderly Administration Certified and Ia became BSN RN licensed in California.

Adore enjoys caring for the residents in our community, and looks forward to coming into work each day. When she is not working, she can be found cooking her favorite Filipino foods.

Meet Michael Turner, Renaissance Village Rancho Belago

Michael Turner, Move-In Coordinator is a committed, reliable and excellent member of the Renaissance Village Rancho Belago family. He has a genuine passion for serving residents, and they adore him for it. Making an impact is what is most important to Michael, and he does whatever he can to make someone’s day special.

Michael went to Chapman University for Early Childhood Education but became his grandmother’s caregiver after he graduated. He would take care of her for half of each day, and Michael recalls this as the best experience. The time he shared with her,

allowed him to connect with her as an adult and the family knew that as she declined, she was well taken care of.

After his grandmother passed away, Michael became a Certified Nursing Assistant through the Red Cross and worked for a 1-on-1 caregiving agency. He also worked as a Caregiver and Med Tech for Valencia Terrace.

More than a job, a family

Michael began working with Renaissance Village in April of 2016 as the Memory Care Coordinator, and the residents took to him quickly. He embodies comfort and total familiarity, which allows the residents to feel safe in his care.

Michael enjoys working at Renaissance Village because the staff work together like a family and are there to support the residents and one another. He loves interacting with residents by listening to their stories, sharing a laugh or giving them a hug.

When Michael is not working, he enjoys spending time with his wife, KayLa, watching Star Wars cartoons with his son, Luke and playing catch or other sports with his other son, James. Michael and KayLa have been married for 8 years. He loves Angels Baseball, Star Wars, Pokemon Go, reading and cosplay. He’s currently working on his first cosplay, which is a Boba Fet style, Mandalorian.

Thank you, Adore and Michael for your hard work. We appreciate your zeal for supporting residents. Congratulations on Employee of the Month. If you strive to help others like Adore and Micheal, please visit our career page and become apart of the growing Renaissance Village family.
