Happy Nurses Week!
National Nurses Week is a time to honor and recognize nurses around the world for the important work they do. Additionally, the commitment and contributions made on a daily basis.
Nurses Week takes place each year in May to recognize and honor the nursing profession. President Eisenhower chose May because Florance Nightengale’s birthday is May 12. Florance is also considered the founder of modern day nursing. She set the standard of what nursing is with her work during the Crimean War. Florance advocated for education, her patients and their rights to receive quality nursing care.
Nurses are a very special group of people specializing in the industry of compassion. They work weekends, holidays and in the middle of the
night. Nurses understand that patients’ needs do not stop when the rest of the world is at home with their families. They are teachers, caregivers, advocates and natural healers.
Asheley Enge, Wellness Director
At Renaissance Village, we are very fortunate to have our own very talented nurse, Asheley Enge. Asheley was recently promoted to Wellness Director. Asheley gives 100 percent to and goes the extra mile to ensure we meet all residents’ well-being and needs. She has always worked with the elderly population and has been a nurse for six years, graduating in 2009. Asheley shares she enjoys her position because this is her second home and these residents are her second family. She went on to say that she “loves helping people.” Asheley is currently working on her Associates Degree in Nursing. She is always working to gain more knowledge through education and aspires to get her Masters in Nursing.
Happy Nurses Week Asheley! We appreciate you more than you know. Thank you very much for your hard work and dedication to Renaissance Village.
I would also like to recognize and honor some other very special nurses who call Renaissance Village home. Doris Giba, Anna Garcia, and Odessa Sheffield. Thank you all for your hard work. You are all role models to all the hard working nurses today. Happy Nurses Week to you all!
